Welcome to Learning Energy, my new Substack newsletter, courses, and community. As I’ve left Twitter and with TinyLetter closing, I was challenged to find a new space to stay connected to cool people who love to learn (and teach). Substack is the best option to do that. It’s a platform for readers and writers, and while I have some hesitation about this space, I think it can be positive, supportive, and generative if used mindfully.
What to Expect
Learning Energy will take the place of my old email newsletter where I sent out occasional notes on life and learning, along with updates about my offerings. One thing that will be different is that you can expect more regular posts from me. I want and need to write more, and one of my teachers, Marlee Grace, has inspired me to use a newsletter as a creative container for my writing.
I also plan to host online courses in Substack. While Substack was not necessarily built for courses, I think this platform can actually work really well for the types of courses that I run. Our first course will be How to Learn and Succeed in Self-Paced, Online Courses (what I lovingly call SPOCs). This SPOCs course is for anyone who’s ever signed up for an online course and not started or finished it. We’ll learn strategies, straight from my own ADHD brain, to help you reimagine your relationship to SPOCs. Both learners and teachers/designers of SPOCs are invited to learn with us. This course will be FREE for all. Expect future courses on topics like healthy routines, neuroplasticity, writing, ADHD to be for paid subscribers. I do hope you’ll consider supporting my work with a monthly ($5/month) or yearly ($50) subscription.
Substack seems to be drawing in lots of cool folks who want to read, write, and learn together. I invite you to join me here in a supportive community. We can do hard things when we do them small and together, right?
One of my goals is to keep it concise on here. I’ve noticed that I much prefer shorter posts that are a bit easier on my attention span, so I’ll wrap it up for now. Starting today, you can expect regular Monday posts, and the SPOCs course will be coming your way January 2024. Do comment on this post with any questions or thoughts/feels you have about this move or these offerings. I’d love your questions and feedback.
If you would be so kind to subscribe at whatever level works for you and to share this newsletter with a friend, I would be so grateful.
Thank you friends and fellow learners. See you next week.
